The Historic City Park Neighborhood’s 1st newest project Arts in the Park makes the news! The Arts in the Park program was created by the Historic City Park Neighborhood’s 1st Group to provide family friendly entertainment as well as arts & culture to guests of city park at no cost! This was our first performance as a trial run to see how receptive the neighborhood was. With the success of this event we plan to partner with local talent near year and do several more events!

A new group called “Arts in the Park” has come to Hagerstown, and they just gave a sneak-peak performance of their first play.

The play is called “The Magic Flute,” and will be performed with the Hub Opera Company.
It’s a Mozart opera sung in German with colorful costumes, telling the story of a prince rescuing a princess from an evil man.

The play features some students from the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.

“We met all together for the first time yesterday, and that sounded fantastic. I can’t wait to put it all together with set, costume, orchestra, singers, everything–it’s a really spectacular show,” says Francesca Aguado, an actress and singer who plays the role of the third lady in “The Magic Flute.”

The play will be held at Hagerstown Community College’s Kepler Theatre first on September 23, 2012 at 3pm, then September 28 and 29.
